Seriously, its been a big problem for me. I dont study, For shit. When I do ( or at least when I try ) I easily get distracted.
-I figures school is like this :
Pay attention = Great basis
Doing homework and Projects = Half the Grade and Good Concept
Reveiw what was seen in the class after school = Great rememberance
Study For a test = Actually know shit for the test to get a B or more ( in my case, an 8 = 80% or more )
All of this combined gives you straight A's Even half of it can give you Straight A's if you put an effort. I only pay attention in class, if not im sleeping...
-The Grading system is Pretty simple here though :
There are 3 trimesters
Each on is divided into 3 grades :
Concept ( doing Homework and bringing your shit and having things Prepared every class )
Projects ( not counted as much since we dont do that many )
& Testing ( its just one test with 5-10 questions and each question is Like 3 pages [ 2 sides ] of explanation.. =S )
-As I remember, school is Harder here than it is in California or most school systems in the US. No multiple choice, No GPA, no SAT's no nothing. Youre grade is Rounded together from everything you did all year. Especially, NO EXTRA CREDIT, NO SECOND CHANCES, NO MAKE-UP TESTS, NOTHING!, just do in the Momment, If you forget a folder its a F for that whole day.
+ Everything is hardcore writing and studying from the Folders. My handwriting is shit and Dont know how to change that... >.<
-Im tired everyday since I dont sleep that much, so I end up spending all my concentration on Trying not to fall asleep...
-See, my problem is that Im distracted so easily, That when I start reading I look at my fingers and look at every detail, then I wonder wht Im studying and I end up using the comp ( even without computer I just loaf around or watch TV, Maybe if I feel like it, Work out ) but yeah, lol. Im super gay at this...
Any tips on Concentrating? Ive been told that I need a commitment, But I get bored so FUCKING easily. Maybe its because Im so hyped up on anything...

This is probably cuz you dont know why you should learn this shit in the first place. Which isn't your fault. it's just how you grew up.
It helps with life, it helps you build up logic so you're not a hick dumbass outside of high school. It helps you understand that adding sodium to water will cause an explosion and it shouldnt be done. It helps you understand what acids you should never touch. It helps you invest your money in the stock market for your retirement. It helps you vote for the RIGHT president, looking into stuff beyond the deceiving speeches. It helps you understand what your doctor tells you. It helps you understand the radio. It helps you with LIFE.

set up a schedule, and STICK TO IT. i usually plan out my day based by time, which seems pretty rigid, but we're fuckin high school students, we don't have things that come up, our schedules are pretty much predetermined if we sit down and plan it. As for the actually how-to on studying, I have a guide from my physics teacher of how to study: 1.Get 4-6 pieces of paper ready 2. Write the title of the chapters for the test (if you can!?!) at the top of the first page 3. List all the subtopics or main concepts in the upper left hand corner of the first page and then number them 4. Take each numbered subtopic and write as much as you can about it. Use outline form and include diagrams if you can remember them to save yourself some work in writing. - if you can't remember very much, go over your notes or the text book, and then write as much as you can about it -if you can write a lot about it, you're ready.
5. study only topics that you couldn't write very much about. studying things that you already know is a waste of your time!
6. if there are no math problems. you're done! if there are math problems, you need to do one or two of each type. use the same technique, pick a more difficult problem. if you can do it, do the next type. if you can't, use the book and do as many of those problems until you can solve them quickly and easily.

I never study.
I ace every test i take, even math tests where i skip the question i don't like or replace them with joke questions like "use calculus to solve the identity of batman" and shit like that
I also have a silver and gold medals in Math from academic decathlon, which i didn't study for.
and a 99 on the asvab which i pretty much took on a whim. my recruiter was like "hey, you need to take the asvab" and i'm like "okay, can we go tomorrow?"

BanYa, nutrick's plan sounds best but mines a quick fix on a serious note though... look into accelerated learning, and adopt the principles in their... I've been really imoproving on my practice papers cos of it... AND you can adopt it to game for DHV's; mind tricks and stuff...

my point was that clearly studying doesn't work for him, so maybe he needs to fix his original intake of the information.

I find it super Funny how you Guys argue as Well as most people who read this. You made a great point Grape old buddy lol, And I like it, Usually when I try to study I change the song every 5sec's since I get tired and Im actually listening to it. I found that meditation music works great if its repetitive. "merlins Magic by The heart of Reiki" is one of the best examples of it. Ive also used that song as a backround in my implementing of creating symbols for the October method. =D, Anyway's Ive developed a system thats still in progress but it seems to be promising. Will be posting shit about it later. =D

if you know anyone with ADHD, steal their ritalin... Genius! Doesn't help, I've taken ritalin before a math test, didn't do any better, didn't do any worse.
