This is really something I never caught on in my social circles. Guys and girls like calling themselves nerds for liking Harry Potter, band, etc. People seem to say it as if they want attention or something. I guess it makes it easier to identify their interests, but it still annoys me I guess.

Some people do it because they think its true (ive seen it). Others just say it, umm to say it. Like in a funny kinda way.
ex.
Harry: What did u do this weekend?
Dick: I saw Harry Potter, omg im such a loser lol.
