Fight club, starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Directed by David fincher ( seven ). One of the best movies in the past 20 years. Any comments?

I dont mean to be a dick but what did he do? also to other viewers Tyler durden was a anti society crzy man who completely destroyed dozens of credit companies to create choas so he is not a good role model.
However his philosophy at least his rules are incredibly good and the narrator is taught all these and becomes a better person

it really opened my eyes on materialism, it took afew years but I finally understood, 'You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis.' i had been lulled by the idea of the American dream I had been raised on so long, the book is really good too.

Favorite fucking movie ever. The book was crazy good, and ever since then I've been trying to write gritty like Palahniuk.
Also. If your friend went to jail for acting like Tyler Durden then he missed the entire point of the movie. He's imitating someone who's philosophy is to never imitate, also basically being a space monkey.

The thing about this movie is you need to watch it a few times and truly analyze it to be able to fully understand it. I've seen it about 10 times put together, but only seen it once or twice fully, normally never really getting to the end. However; through those approximate 10 times that I've seen it, I've realized that every time you watch it, it makes less and less sense as it makes more and more sense. It's weird.
This is one of those amazing movies that mind fucks the shit out of you. I advise you watch it while under the influence, it makes it more intense >:]. I'm afraid that's all I can say without actually talking about it, just the general idea of the movie.
Remember -- 1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB. 2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.
3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the fight is over.
4th RULE: Only two guys to a fight.
5th RULE: One fight at a time.
6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes.
7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.
8th RULE: If this is your first night at FIGHT CLUB, you HAVE to fight.

Dante, that is where "Fight Club" goes too far. The movie is really only suitable for people who are mature enough to know that it's not to be attempted or re-enacted in real life as the occurrences in it are NOT supposed to be real, just a feasible scenario that seemed to be a good topic to make a movie on.
I, in the past, have though about starting a sort of "Fight Club" that consisted of underground bare-knuckle fighting that had pretty much the same rules, but then realized that it would be pointless to a point where I could just go to a place to be put into a mini-ufc tournament, however, at this point my belligerence had left me and I no longer felt the need to get that sort of rush.

wait you guys are missing the even bigger picture SPOILER ALERT IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPOIL THE MOVIE LOOK AWAY!
the narrator is trying to deal with his materialist life in which he is trying to find purpose and he cant. So his mind creates an alterego in order to deal with it. Fight Club is just a way to release stress, not for UFC, its just a way to hit bottom to deal with the world. Project mayhem is just the way his mind attempts to visibly affect the world, shake things up, make it fun. It is possible for individuals to do that. 9/11 did happen, the unibomber happened. in fight club its just terrorism linked to underground boxing clubs. but its meant to terrorize big brother, not the people. The only thing that makes fight clun unique tyler does not get cuaght. Dont try to emulate a man who is willing to do what others will not, it takes a special kind of intelligence, will power, confidence, and drive to do that. Fight Club just shows what man is willing to put up with before he snaps. Kyle was just an idiot, a sheep raised by society trying to wake up. The best thing he could have done was put a bomb in the estblishment and set it to go off at 3 am so that it actually did some damage, look at the pics, theres no damage.

amen. fight club = one of the all time greatest movies i've seen. i think you guys, esp tommy, got waht the movies really about..
not much more to say. tyler inspires me. his character brought me out of some dark times and his philosophy shaped a lot of who i am today.
i must say, Palahniuk is a genius, but with all due respect, i felt the movie actaully surpassed the novel. of course the story and all it's brilliance should be credited to Palahniuk, but his style in the novel became highly repetitive and became almost overkill in the effect it intended to make. i'm huuge on english composition so i get what he was trying to do, it's just there was no dynamics and it was almost beaten to the ground. (it's still a really good book though. read it)
i thought that movie was better because Brad Pitt fucking rocked the shit out of Tyler Durden and gave that character life. in the book, TD was like an idea... in the movie, TD was manifested and brought to a whole new level. badass. mad props to Pitt.
great fucking story.

Agreed, kyle is an idiot, and i hate his guts now for bring terrible shit into my life. Also, we did have a fight club for a while, but its not that much fun, cause most people cant really fight, and the fight would usualy last no longer than 7 seconds.
