Hey everyone, just started school last monday, and I have to admit, changing schools my junior year of high school so far has been kinda tough. So far I haven't really met anyone yet (I'm in IB while the majority of the kids are in standard classes). Any help on how to spread out and meet as many people (and chicks) as possible would be kickass

Hey, I know how you feel. Changed schools between semesters last year. Hard to get adjusted.
Well, here's how I view things. High school students form groups. Groups consist of kids who have a big commonality. EX: - Band Druggies - Band Nerds - Football/Lacrosse Jocks - Soccer Jocks - Basketball Jocks - Preps - etc...
Find out which one you fit into, observe your classmates, and get to know them. Meet one person that you know you share common interests with, s/he'll introduce you to the group, or give you a good opportunity to introduce yourself.
When you first meet a group (set), you MUST know what kind of group they are. You can't come in and act like friends straight off the bat. They must know that you're "one of them" by knowing you guys are meant to be in the same group. After that, the shields come tumbling down and you can REALLY get to know them.

I kind of thought starting in a new school would be kind of cool
Like starting over clean slate, with a whole new value to build and whole new social circles to make. but hey, im a people person.
Just talk to people. Ask HBs in your classes what the homework was or if you can show me how to do question six that would be great, or directions or anything

Actually in my school the majority of the higher ranking social scale is in IB/AP so I'm just one of the loudest/funniest/smartest in the class and people know me. That's my best tip, meet the people who sit by you, have great convos, the rest of the people in the class will want to meet you, then you'll just expand your network from there.

The best part about switching schools is that you know what you can do to get yourself into the social circle that you want to be in. I've been in the same school system for the last 13 or so years and naturally one just falls into a social circle. Here you get a good chance to redefine yourself and what you are all about. Good Luck!!
