If you don't have a group of BEST friends to eat lunch with, it's vital that you sit with different people every day. This will maximize your social value and get your name out there.
The problem is, things get boring. At least for me. If I eat with a same group of friends for a week straight, I run out of things to talk about, or don't feel like talking about things with them.
Switching it up and meeting new people will cause arousal and emotional stimulation, keeping the spark alive.
Sometimes you may feel totally uncomfortable, I sometimes do. It's our job to get over this and realize that everyone around us are also human.

I feel so weird going into a group of complete strangers and joining their convo. Should I work the set regularly or should I do something different?

Well, you're going to know atleast one of them pretty well.
Just talk with him, show the rest of the group that you're safe and then become an inside man.

It's just a recommendation.
Otherwise you have to spend an extra 10 minutes lowering their shields.

I ended up in a lunch with only 1 close friend on some days and i just sat with him and a bunch of girls.
This worked really well, at least 2 of them want me now. And by want me i mean they WANT ME xD
but yea one or 2 friends are perfect numbers
