I've spent the weekend at a music festival called V Fest (Virgin Festival) it was incredible, saw Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Chase and Status and MANY MANY more.
It was while i was here that i realized something, something that I'd noticed for years, but never really thought about.
Everyone knows alcohol can give you confidence to do shit you wouldn't normally do, for a lot of you guys (newbies in particular) that means talking to people (girls mainly).
And for ALOT of you newbies, i know you have real trouble gaming any girls without a little 'motivation' from the drink..
What i noticed it this, here's a story for you
So I'm at v fest chilling by a stage, I'm waiting there as a meet up point for a bunch of my friends who want to go see Arctic monkeys . While I'm there a guy comes up to me, he's drunk. He says 'excuse me mate where's the bathroom?'
So i tell him where the bathroom is and he should be on his way, but instead of this he stays and asks me where I'm from, then tells me where he's from when i didn't ask, then keeps talking. It was just embarrassing for him.
Here is my point, THAT is NOT being social, that is being a douche. I guarantee a bunch of you guys have got drunk and gone up to some guys and acted drunk and thought you were being totally cool and social by talking to them, when actually you just come off as an idiot and everyone thinks 'drunk'.
Now i want to address those of you thinking 'No sloth, you're just being anti social, what's wrong with just being friendly and talking to these guys' - there's nothing wrong with being friendly and talking to these guys, except when i do so I'm literally treating them like a child.
1. That's just a waste of my time
2. That should express to all of you why you do not want to be that person, it's beta as fuck.
Now for the final piece of this post.
There's a big difference between approaching strangers and talking normally, don't think that's a bad thing cause it's not. That is NOT related to the above. Hell even if yo are drunk, you can still do it, it just so happens that when drunk, you're more likely to act like the idiot that i encountered.
good approach : Good body language, not slurring, not all over the place, be friendly and say hey, then talk like a normal human being
Bad approach: slurring, wobbling, bad body language, TOO MUCH LAUGHING (particularly at yourself), repeating yourself, excessive swearing, being too touchy and acting like you've known the stranger for years.
Bottom line, yes alcohol can be very helpful for you, you can gain confidence to do shit you wouldn't normally do.
BUT
1. never start to rely on it for these things
2. Use it with caution, you may feel like a boss, but you might actually be acting like a drunk ass hole.
Peace out x
