I took notes today in class today and we happened to talk about Freud.
He broke up one's ego into 3 different 'personalities'.
Id
This personality is acquired at birth. One only cares about himself. He doesn't care about his environment or the people around him. He only thinks about himself and tries to please himself. He still doesn't understand that caring about things other than himself will actually benefit him a lot more than doing things all alone. He still has no rapport with his surroundings.
Ego
This is the "healthiest" personality to have, as told by Freud. It's developed around the age of three years old when one realizes that not everything will go according how he wants it!! He becomes realistic about his desires and goals. So now, he'll start doing things for others while expecting a returned favor as well.
Super-Ego
This is like Jesus. This man's such a moral person. He will always focus on the greater good while overlooking his own desires and feelings. He'll make sacrifices from himself just to make sure others get what they need. Not always the best thing to do. Too much focus on others and too little focus on self.
========================
So the best ego persona to have out the three shown is the Ego ego.
You need to be realistic about things. Not everything revolves around you. You are not the best. You are not the worst.
You are simply yourself. You need to work to get what you want. You need to commit.
The amount you need to sacrifice will vary per each situation, but the outcome will always be the same.
You will get something out of it.
I hope this helps a lot!!
