Today in class, Again, we took notes on some dude who broke down human needs.
His name's Maslow and apparently his name's big around the field of psych.
So he claimed that there are FIVE stages of needs that one can have:
Physiological Needs
These are the most basic needs one may need. Things like air, food, water all belong in this category. Simple biological needs.
Safety Needs
After the physiological needs can be met without strong conscious focus, one will start focusing about his or her own safety. Things like being comfortable in one's environment, having a home, all fit in this category.
Social Needs
After that, one will start focusing on his society. He will want the love and affection from others. Or.. Friends. Simple ehh?
Value Needs
After that, one'll need to conquer TWO things: Self-Esteem and Outer-Validation.
Nutrick posted an Excellent article by SinJester here: highschoolpuas.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=confidence&action=display&thread=1523 about the two topics.
It basically states how you should see yourself as a great person.
Also, and this is from my own interpretation, VALUE will be necessary. You will need to feel valuable and maybe even higher value than others.
Identity Needs
This is the ultimate need of man, when one has fulfilled this need, he or she will be one of the greatest people on Earth. It's basically about KNOWING what you were meant to do. You found the things you love, you know what you want, you know how you will live your life. You have a passion that you deeply love.
Maslow believed that in order to achieve a need of a higher level, one needed to have already gained the ones before.
So for instance, one can not focus on finding his identity if he is too hungry or too out of breath to care.
One can not focus on becoming a valuable person if he is too busy trying to find a place to sleep. Make sense?
Hope you find this helpful. Enjoy.
