I want to introduce to you a concept of mine called “big picture thinking” Now, it's probably nothing extraordinarily new, but this is what I believe to be a very essential part of pick up that one needs to understand.
This is very related to the “it's not a big deal” mindset, and I believe that this justifies why certain things are, in fact, not a big deal.
Let me explain with an example (Red dog knows this one quite well ):
Imagine you're in the Marines (you know about the 4,000 troops they sent to Afghanistan? Big picture thinking, my friend.) and you just got dropped of by helicopter into Afghan enemy territory. You have exactly 24 hours to relieve the area of insurgents and rescue the U.S. Soldier who is currently being monitored under heavy guard, yet you only have half a day's worth of supplies and ammunition. Are you willing to accept the mission, soldier? (Breath-taking writing, I know, I should totally write a book, but I digress)
Now, with that in mind, going up to some totally hot (but probably naïve and stupid, as we all are) 13-18 (or -25, depending on your taste) girl sounds like child's play. Well my friends, guess what? That's the whole concept of big picture thinking. Whatever you think is hard is easy for someone else, big picture thinking requires and open mind and the ability to think of “thinking” itself as subjective, and it usually is. Now, I'm not saying pick up is easy, it's super hard, but it isn't something you should be worrying about (as with anything else for that matter) This should further justify a complete emotional detachment from your outcome. As with the marine in our story, he can't afford to worry about “what if's” and all that, he just does what he needs to do. He gets the godamn job done, and he makes Americans proud (although more Americans should learn the principles and virtues of their own army, then we'd be 1000 times better off in this godamn recession, but I digress)
What I'm also saying is, pick up shouldn't be your entire world. Learning about female behavior and the patterns of socializing is great and all, but you gotta go out into the world and experience it yourself. This is only one aspect of your life that should be a part of a life with more than one aspect. Having more than one passion in your life is one of the greatest feelings to live for. Some of the kids in this forum, if they were as driven as they are in learning about pick up, they can pretty much accomplish anything they put their mind to. Being able to apply that same drive and ambition is really what it's all about. Big picture thinking requires one to be able to look at life as a whole and also piece by piece. Did I mention girls LOVE guys who have drive and ambition?
