I joined a local club for their boxing classes. Hopefully to get motivated to work out (so I dont get my ass kicked) and because I've always wanted to box.
I hope it works out...otherwise I just wasted fucking a 100 bucks.

boxing is awesome training, but won't really work in a real fight. way different. who gives. though I hope you'll get to see how hard it is... lots of cardio, lots of overall endurance training. remember to eat like crazy!

Sure it will, see this video: I would suggest Muay Thai or Kickboxing over just plain old boxing though.

actualy, the only real martial arts that i have seen dominate in street fights are boxing and muay thai.

I'll still heavily disagreeing on boxing, unless you're either mugging someone or the fight is somewhat movie-like.
as for muay thai.. it's basically the techniques of street fighting, with names and optimated moves. iiiiif I'm not mistaken, and mixing it up with one of the four thousand other kinds of martial arts.
