So as soon as I heard about this it sort of shocked me and turned my prior knowledge on its head, but not one to just turn away from the unknown I researched like crazy. Well first you would be just like I was and bring up 6 small meals to boost the metabolism and what not, wrong. Apparently there truly is no difference between 3 large meals that get you 1600 calories than 6 small meals that gets you 1600 calories who knew? Well there is no difference no effect on the metabolism at all at the end of the day as long as you get those 1600 your metabolism won't turn on your body for the five seconds without food. www.fitnessspotlight.com/2008/09/15/intermittent-fasting-for-neurotic-athletes/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermittent_fastingleangains.blogspot.com/So basically you go one period without much food most likely just water maybe even coffee and then another period you simply just gorge yourself (obviously not with too much junk if your looking to lose fat). Pretty simple though it could use some configuring depending on a person's schedule. I myself am pretty interested in it yet to give it a go for myself but from what I've been hearing people get alot of energy and start to become more insulin sensitive and apparently more productive instead of stressing about spreading meals throughout the day. Though at most of our ages I have no idea how your could possible get 4000 cals in a few hours unless you have the stomach of a competitive eater. Anyone happen to be doing something like this?

I am, I live alone so it's cheaper and easier. Haven't lost any muscle mass as far as I've noticed, works great. Definitely give it a go . Check out 'eat stop eat', it's an ebook on it and I'm sure a torrent of it is around somewhere

yeah i guess this makes you put on weight. I have alot of Arabic friends and when they have to fast cause of religion they put on weight. I think most of the time it is fat though so i would watch for that.

Your body gets used to using the small amount of nutrients. So when you fast then intake a large meal, your body won't know what to do with the extra.
My coach told us of when he used to competitive weight lift. They separate you into groups be body weight. So to lose a few pounds, what you do is this: for a few weeks before weigh in, drink in lots and lots of water. I'm talking tons of water. Your body will get used to this substantial amount. Then, starting the day before, cut back on all that water. Your body is used to the large amounts of water and will continue to process that same amount. Then, when the water is cut off, you're not taking in the same amount. But you still lose a lot of water. Get it?
I reckon that this fasting works the same way, but in reverse

It doesnt work the same way my friend. Water and fat sotrage are not the same or even similar. Your body takes in water, but it can only use or store so much water, so teh rest comes out in your pee, no harm no foul. Your body can only use so many calories, but your body can store as much as it wants, and it will. your body is even more prone to store all these calories when you arent recieving calories on a consistent basis- this is evolutionary, it believes there may be a famine, so it pumps the breaks on your metabolism. trust me, i watch house.

Been going by the lean gains style of 14 hour fast and 8 hour window for getting all the calories in for about 7 days. Gotta say nothing but positive results so far no strength loss nor loss of muscle mass and If my crappy scale is to be believed I'm actually not gaining fat but losing it for once.

this is retarded, im considering asking grape to ban you, because this is not just bad advice, its dangerous. Fasting does not cause you to lose weight, because your body reverts to caveman freakout mode, and thinks "oh shit, their must be a famine going on" and holds onto each bit of fat, in an effort to store it for later, and then when you DO eat, its stores more of what you eat as fat, because your body thinks its uncertain when it will get more food. unless you eat total crap, changing your diet wont really help you lose weight, your body will just adjust to its new intake. If you really want to lose weight, start running (sprints not long distance), box, or do something else with alot of cardio

I've laid down my evidence that this is a possible way to lose body fat I've looked and looked and looked I research everything, yet you looking at a few health magazines know everything about the human body and how it reacts to everything it goes through. Of course cardio is a necessity in this case but just cause the word fasting comes up doesn't mean its gonna kill somebody to go 5 hours without food. I know most people's beliefs are very strong when fasting comes into play and it completely rock their beliefs but does it really hurt to look into it?

dude, anatomy is anatomy lol. We are evolutionary designed to survive, so it only makes sense that we'd develop ways to survive on a set amount of food.
New study says this btw:
If you mess up your sleep schedule, then If you fast for atleast 16 hours and go to bed, the time at which you wake up and eat, this will be your new wake up time - because of evolutionary reasons.
