Facebook indirect approach? Good idea?

I wanted to message a girl but couldn't think of anything. She was here in California but is going back to her home in Texas.

So I was thinking what if I message her and tell her that I might be moving to Texas and want to know what its like there?

I never talked to her before and she has never seen me but she will when I put my pic up later.

I think its a good idea since there's nothing else I can message her. What do you guys think?
