Dude, every girl says that to a compliment. It's how you don't seem too needy for the compliments you receive.
In another sense, it is a test.
If you say "No really! You're absolutely beautiful." or "Actually.. you're not."
She'll still be smiling, but her attraction for you will go down.
The thing is to not react back and say something that tells her you know what she's up to by saying
"Umm... okay." and losing interest in her.

Actually, I do a push-pull thing by saying "You're soo cute--- on the inside."
Then they think "Am I not pretty on the outside?"
and they get confused =]

i think he was talking about online game. i think saying something along the lines of what he said except for leaving would work  when a girl says shes not pretty i just pretend i never read that and carry on IMing she knows of course that you read it but the fact that you dont care shows her something |

Yeah, move on. If she calls you on it just tell her that you won't play along when she fishes for complimetns. Only AFCs try to tell a girl how pretty she is.
