You don't NEED a wingman. Solo is perfectly fine and will help you develop character.
That being said, if you are naturally a cool person than you will just naturally make friends... Find somebody you like and get him to hang around you. I've found that most guys aren't in to just going out and picking up girls, so I tend to not ever do it. I just keep an open mind everywhere I go and if opportunity presents itself than I will use the opportunity. Just make sure whoever you find to hang out with doesn't throw off your game or try to steal your targets.
