Everyone has a different style and that is what makes us unique. Unfortunately some people like to believe in the "Peacock" idea. Black fingernails? Your a guy. 8 Rings with skulls or whatever? What are you, part of a cult?.... Now I am not saying you need to change from that appearance but I would HIGHLY suggest it. The only thing that stands out when you "peacock" is your lack for style. So let's get started on what does look good.
Develop your style.
Now since we are all unique in our own way, we will have different styles that work better with our own features. For example, I like my hair short and I go to the barber so therefore hats just don't seem to fit my style because I look like I have no hair. There are countless types of styles: we have the jocks, the goths (not recommended), the surfer dude, the Guidos, the classy guy (polos and such), I could go forever but what I am saying is that usually you will find one that will fit your personality and lifestyle.
Styles to stay away from[/b]
Goth- The black fingernails, eyeliner, weird piercings, and all black clothing is just a complete mistake. To be honest I have never seen a girl in school or anywhere outside there that made me say "Damn look at her". You might mean well but the all black just looks totally negative and you can be easily stereotyped.
Guido- I understand there are some seriously sexy girls who dig guidos. But unless you have a group of close friends that you "GTL" (gym, tan, laundry) with your screwed. Plain & simple, you look like a douche, end of story.
Rock band groupie- I have seen some pics on this site of the guys with the mutton chop sideburns and long nappy hair. I won't rag on you because it is your style but I really don't recommend this. Instead of talking down to this style I will offer some constructive criticism for you who like to have the heavy metal look. If you have the long hair, maintain it nicely. No girl wants to be with a guy who's hair looks disgusting and smells like a gym locker. You need to shave or at least take care of facial hair, it's fine to want to grow your sideburns but don't let them go wild. Make sure to keep your hygiene in check, I am not stereotyping but from personal experience a lot of heavy metal kids I see smell like ass. Just try and clean up your style and you might be able to make it work.

Jock/Athlete- I really can't think of anything that can go wrong with this style. Most of the "popular" kids in school are usually some form of athlete. Clothes like nike (my favorite), addidas, and puma look good. It is just a casual look when combined nice hair and skin you can look like one sexy motherfucker. If you want to pull off the athletic look I would recommend to stay in relatively good shape. Obviously you should strive to be in the best shape possible but if you want to dress like an athlete, look like one.
Hang-loose surfer- I have a few friends at my new school who have "the flow" and combine that with a love of surfing and beach weather. It is a cool style, you look very relaxed and just seem to be very friendly. This is another style you can't really go wrong with, just maintain your hair since it is usually longer.
Classy/Preppy guy- This style USUALLY looks good. As long as you don't go overboard and wear too many layers or girly colors that make you come off as gay.. You will usually look like a generally nice guy and if you have great looks you can look like a model. For example, when I was at the beach and I had a surf board in one arm combined with my American eagle plaid shorts a few girls told me I should model. My favorite style is the athlete look but this comes in second since I have a lot of semi-preppy clothes in my closet. You just look well-dressed and clean-cut.
These are just a few suggestions, if you have anything else you'd like me to go over let me know and I will add it in. I tried to be more clear and organized in this thread so hopefully I achieved my goal, I think it is an easy read. But I also have some nice clothes like more preppy clothes if I feel like showing some SERIOUS class.
