Alright so i'm not going to claim to be an expert of this subject but i would say i know a fair bit as i have been lifting weights for about 6 months now and I have gained 35 pounds. For those who aren't good at math thats more then 5 pounds a month pretty good.
Obviously anyone who wants to get bigger understands you have to lift weights. However that is only half of it. Id even say less then half because you can lift your balls off until your a pile of sweat but if you go home and eat 10 candy bars your going to stay fat and unhealthy. What i am saying is what you consume is MORE important then your lifting (You still have to lift but if your serious you need to eat properly too.)
Now then I'm not going to sit here and tell you what to eat how much and when etc etc. Why? Think about it if i told the best athelete in the world exactly what to eat everyday he'd probably punch me in the face right then and their. One I have no idea what the "best amount" of nutrients you need. And two honestly how many people follow diets? Nobody! Their stupid. You see the way I have been taught is just to eat lots workout after then get some protein into you. Eating lots that sounds easy i'm going to go into my fridge and just pig out. Well it's not that easy. You can't just eat a bag of chips and expect to have a good workout. You need to be eating decently healthy. We all know whats healthy. (Fruits Veggies Meats Fish Eggs etc etc) And if its healthy and you eat a lot of it then workout after you WILL gain muscle enough said. Now if your only eating apples don't expect to be stronger then a guy who eats beef and potatoes every day because some foods are better then others. Too figure out you could google it but i have found such a wide variety of "the best diets" that i just choose to figure out which ones are best FOR ME (this is your body what works for you may not work for someone else) How did i do this you may ask. Simple go eat something you think would be good before a workout or a sports game. Then write it down and how much you ate. Include what you drink as well. Now wait an hour then go do your workout you made or someone gave to you or whatever. Then in the same booklet (i have just paper all piled up) write down what you did sets and reps and how you felt before during and after. Generally if you feel good after eating something (Example 1 pound of pasta and 500 ml of milk) then that is good workout food and if you eat that you WILL bulk up and get stronger. If you feel shitty well you should probably avoid that food. So play around with it and if your getting good results with one meal and having good workouts before during and after then you should stick with that food.
Recap: Eat lots Eat healthy workout get a protein source in after and You will gain weight 100% dont worry about all the carbs intake and shit. Im not saying its not important but healthy foods have the stuff you need in them and more so if you eat a lot of them then you will get the nutrients you need to gain weight
