correct me if im wrong but i think this song is about a guy who acts like somebody else and loses his own self. he then wants to drop his fake self and "let him go". anyways i thought it was a great song with the theme of "be yourself".

Ehh I thouht this whole album was wack minus the two bonus tracks. But yeah I think you understand it correct except I think the whole thing was a reference to himself. IF you followed Lupe for the past two years, he had to go through hell with his record label to make this album (Its too much details to elaborate). To sum it up Lupe didn't want to make this album but his label Atlantic made him make a album that he had no creative control over - and Lupe himself said he didn't like the album. So I interpreted it as (note than I only listened to this no more than 3 times so I may be off) Lupe had to give up his true self and feelings to chase a commercial album.
But yeah, Lupe is my favorite rapper, and I thought this whole album was wack minus the two bonus tracks and and the song "Til I Get There". I've heard his other two albums and all his official mixtapes countless times and this is a huge step backwards.
Lol but if you like it great, ha I didn't intend for this to be all negative.
