How do you regard each of the two as? I know that they are separate entities but similar in a way.

Because the concept of confidence that comes from within [you] is (in my perspective) like mental masturbation. I think I may be overcomplicating this but anyway.

My take on the wwo:

Mental Masturbation - to me, is either words or thoughts making you feel good about yourself for what you could be capable of.

Confidence - on the other hand, is the feeling of "I'm-used-to-this-so-it-doesn't-bother-me-at-all."

^Remember that those are MY definitions of the two entities, how do you feel about these?

confidence is being comfortable and knowing you'll be comfortable in a certain activity or situation.

As such I can be confident picking up girls because I know exactly what I'm going to do usually.

I'm not confident at brain surgery. I have no idea what I'm going to do.

Fuck confidence, experiment. Put yourself out there, and by experimenting and finding that things aren't so bad, you will become more and more confidence. Don't get comfortable, thats when you fuck up.
