sorry I have not been posting at all these past months, i've been busy. There may be some newbies here who don't recognize my name. They'd better learn quick.
This is my first post in a while, and it is because I am so deeply inspired by my reading of the secret and the 11 natural laws. I have been easing myself back into pickup and self-improvement again, trying to inch up off this latest plateau I’ve been in, it’s not a bad place, but anyone who is perfectly content to stay where they are the rest of their life is fooling themself. “Man maintains his balance, poise, and sense of security only as he is moving forward.” That is a quote from Maxwell Maltz that I have committed to memory because it sums my views up pretty damn well. Think of your life as if you were pushing a boulder up a hill with great effort. You may choose to stop for a moment and catch your breath, but that boulder will only remain in one spot briefly before you have a decision to make- push your boulder further up, or let it roll down.
The 11 natural laws are a great read, and I’ll link to a site that summarizes all of them pretty well. Basically, they all revolve around the all-powerful law of attraction, which states that your thoughts dictate your reality. If this sounds new to you, trust me, it isn’t. If you have ever heard of someone who believes that deeply focused prayer to god will yield results, you have heard somebody who believes in the law of attraction, they just call it god. I personally choose to believe in a one true god, and when I consistently pray to him for 15-20 uninterrupted minutes, and deeply focus on what I’m asking for, I find that over time I am much more likely to get it, than in times when I am out of touch with him. Basically, on top of the intrinsic godly ability he has to grant me what I ask, it refocuses me on my goals and aligns me with the path I wish to be on. At the end of every day, this prayer forces me to reflect on my day’s actions and see the opportunities I used and those I missed on a day-by-day basis. It makes me more conscious throughout my day so I end up making better decisions, if you don’t believe in god, you still see the benefits of my prayer. I recommend you use whatever equivalent methods you can, meditation, introspection, and reflection are all means to a similar end.
Now, after people were introduced to the secret, they started thinking about sports cars, beautiful women, weight loss, money, etc., but many didn’t get it. WHY? It is because they didn’t do anything differently. Some of them probably lazed around even more thinking the secret would do whatever they needed. This is where the other 10 forgotten laws come in (http://www.squidoo.com/11-forgotten-laws). If the law of attraction says, positive thought leads to positive results, then all 11 laws together say, positive thoughts guide positive action to yield results.
Everyone has great ideas and intentions, but few people act on them, and that is their downfall. Think about someone who wants a beautiful garden. They go out and buy the best seeds possible, throw them into holes in the ground and wait 6 weeks; they go back to check their garden and nothing has grown. Now this wanna-be gardener is blaming everyone but himself for his terrible yield. Thus person is not following the 11 laws. If he had planted the seeds, fertilized the ground, watered them diligently and weeded the garden regularly, his garden would have been successful, and then he could take all the credit for it. This is the way people work, and it is not at harmony with the universe. They shift their locus of control to suit their ego. When they succeed, they did it without any help, when they fail, it is some outside circumstance. That is not the way the world works. Your thoughts and your actions guide your reality.
These laws are further evidenced by monetary wealth and the way people handle it. You always hear about the lotto curse where blue-collar americans win their dream lotto and get rich, then end up bankrupt, broke, and miserable a year down the line, cursing the lotto all the while for ruining their lives. You don’t see kanye west getting broke any time soon, and his lifestyle is expensive. On top of that, many of these lotto jackpots eclipse his entire net worth several times over. Why is this? Kanye worked for it and put his talent to use. He knew what he wanted to achieve, focused on it, and di what it took to get his fortune. His thoughts are that of a rich person worthy of his fortune and he continues to do exactly what he did to get to this place, because he knows damn well if he stops, he’ll lose it. A lotto winner is typically poor, and becomes rich very quickly. His thought patterns are still those that kept him poor in the first place. A lack of drive, a lack of focus, a fear of risks, and the i-can’t-do-it attitude would be characteristic of these folks. Then all of a sudden they’re plankin on 250 million bones and rolling in the dough. Guess what? They’re habits haven’t changed. Their thoughts won’t be on how to maintain and build their fortune, they’ve never thought that way before. They will be thinking about how lucky they were to win this, how it just fell into their lap, how they are going to SPEND it. This is because they’ve had all the time in the world to THINK about what they would do IF they WERE rich. Really, they should’ve been thinking of what they should DO to BECOME rich. They don’t change their thought patterns once the money comes, and they get led right back to where they started- broke as a joke.
It’s a really easy concept: our thoughts can bring our aspirations forward from our subconscious need for self-actualization. The more you keep this inner drive towards betterment in the front of your mind, the more your actions will align with them. Think about it- if you’re always thinking about your weight loss goals, you’ll eventually catch yourself midway into reaching for a cupcake, and choose a celery stick instead.
So pray, reflect, introspect, and meditate on your goals, dreams, and aspirations everyday, but even more importantly, act on them.
Its good to be back.
