So I've been working out for a few weeks now. I lift every other day if I can. I also run and do abs exercises pretty much every day. I don't have a specific diet but I have guidelines to follow: high protein, whole grains instead of white, eat small healthy snacks throughout the day, at least two tall glasses of skim milk at dinner eat more fruits/vegetables when I'm hungry instead of junk food. 30 minutes after I work out I get hungry so I'll have peanut butter with rice cake or humus and pita bread. My goal is to have bigger and more defined muscles and a six pack by the time summer rolls around. There are a lot of guys in my school that take pre workout supplements before they lift. I've researched it a little and it looks like supplements can either really help or be a huge rip off. I am a distance runner so I wouldn't want to take any supplement that would affect my running performance in a negative way. How many guys here use supplements? What type of supplements, if any, should I be taking and how often should I be taking them? Thanks brosefs

As far as pre workout goes, you want to use NO Xplode 2.0 or Jack3d. Theyre on equal levels but just slightly different feelings. NO Xplode is more jittery while Jack3d is more tingly.
Try them both and see which you like better, theyre basically the same. You'll love both.

Get some whey protein. Isolate is best, but horrible expensive. Try to get one that's a mix of isolate & concentrate (about 70%+ protein). It simply helps with reaching protein goals per day. It's also got higher absorbtion rate and a good ratio of vital amino acids. I hear good things about creatine too, but havent tried it myself. Try to supplement with multi-vitamins (low iron!!) Some extra Zinc is always nice for the testosterone

As others have said above Though I think pre-workouts are a piece of shit, just tons of expensive caffeine Creatine monohydrate is awesome stuff, get good quality product to avoid side effects Glutamine is good for helping with optimum absorption of nutrients and that's it. People claim it has anti-catabolic effects but that's bullshit With regards to protein get what norwegian said. Most other protein powders are pointless, mainly the partially digested stuff (hydro something)

I used to take pre workout sups but i stopped cause they honestly dont do much but get you more in the mood to lift, sort of a waste of money in my opinion since clearly, if your on this forum, you have some motivation and drive to get shit done.
All i do is drink shit loads of whey protein after i lift, i personally dont like creatine because as soon as you stop taking it all the water mass it puts in your muscles goes away.

Take steriods, amazing results if done right. Why take hormones that your body already produces a ton of? 13-27 = Peak years of testosterone production for males, in other words 'roids are pretty much useless for kids our age. They will just come back and bite you in the ass later.

Not really, havnt checked the number but also don't care your body produces 8mg of testo at its peak, in the morning. Between 5-10mg a day. That's not bad. One pill can range from 15mg to 5mg. There's no argument there mate if your getting 30mg of testo a day your gonna be advanced. It was a joke anyway so keep your panties on

Sleepy, there's no denying that roids can make you HUGE in your 20s. Just type in roids to google. There are natural ways to increase your testosterone anyway; a combination of 4 natural supplements and 8 brazil nuts /day. All of the ingredients are above the RDA though.

Ok I just ordered the WPI. I'm only going to start out with that and I will probably add creatine in later. Any other workout/diet tips for seeing maximum results quickly?
