How do you deal with a shy girl?

This honestly has me stumped. Me and a group of friends went skating last weekend, and I met this girl there that I just kind of hit it off with. (Goes to our school but I've never really talked to her before) Nearly right after we get on the ice, I skate up to her and grab her hand. She seemed to like it, and we pretty much spent the whole night just skating together and talking. She seemed to really be in to me, but there was one problem- every time I tried to isolate her, she'd just go run off with her friends. At the end of the night, she had to come back to my car to get her stuff out of it, so I'm thinking "Cool. It'll finally be just me and her." Wrong. One of her friends tagged along with her and dragged her along to their car right after she got her stuff. She texts me later on telling me what a good time she had and how we need to hang out again sometime. Two days later, we're back in school. I see her passing by in the hallway, and she tries extremely hard not to make eye contact with me. Every time I'm around, she instantly busies herself with talking to someone else and tries to ignore the fact that I'm even there. So hey... I figured "fuck it" and decided to move on. Since then, I've had like 3 people come up to me and tell me that she talks about me all the time and how much she likes me and shit, and that she's just extremely shy. How do you deal with this type of girl?

Theres two possibilities here.

1) She ain't in to you. Not a big deal, nobody can win em all.
2) The more likely. She's just fucking shy and the best way to deal with that is assume all responsibility for everything. In my experience shy girls aren't quick to judge because obviously they're quite insecure. So use that to your advantage.

Sounds like a plan. I was thinking option 1 until people started telling me that it was definitely the latter. She did seem to just go with whatever I did when I led though so I guess I'll keep that up.

When it could be one of two extremes like that, definitely keep trying. I'd keep going assuming #2 as long as #2 is still a strong possibility (and your friends' chatter indicates that it is) and just keep trying until she actually tells you to fuck off or that you're "not her type" or whatever lol.

Like parkwhore said, assume responsibility and lead everything. That would be the best advice I could think of regarding shy girls.
