Howdy Trucking Do fellas.. ain't auto correct a gas.
I had this sudden realization after seeing it happen for so long throughout my time at high school, it was only after leaving that i realized holy shit that is bad. (blind as a bat)
now before i start talking about it i guarantee everyone here has done it, hopefully the more experienced guys can back me up in that they never do that shit 'anymore' if ever.
So listen up new guys cause i just know you get nervous and do it when trying to make conversation! Just. Like. Me. (couple years ago)
It's pretty much gossiping. But it goes deeper than that.
You may not call yourself a gossip, you may only see gossips as people who spread rumors, or just tell everybody some secret. But gossip is like a silent fart following you around everywhere you go (you have to initiate the fart )
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALRIGHT, so. here's where i explain exactly what i mean via examples, I'd like to thank Andrew as his unique writing style will certainly feature in this post.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 types of people.
Person 1) The Gossip:
The person who is literally renowned as a gossip, you can't tell them anything cause they'll spread it, and they take little stories and try to give themselves social proof by turning the stories into big deals.
Nobody likes a gossip - not to say they're friendless but you don't want to be this person.
Person 2) the most common, the social gossiper (like a social smoker)
the situations where this person gossips vary
a) if everyone is gossiping, they join in if they know what the conversation is about
b) if they are talking to someone, and it goes silent, they initiate gossip to start an interesting conversation
now situation A is pretty common, the thing i would say about it is, don't gossip, if you get asked for your opinion remain neutral and crack a joke or some shit, basically make the others feel stupid for gossiping without getting angry at them (Y)
Situation B is real common, it was what i was guilty of - interestingly more commonly with guys.
If i was talking to some guys and i wanted to get into the conversation, it was easy to just say 'yo you hear about Alex? he hooked up with Lisa!' or whatever was going on.
Sure a conversation gets going, but it's total bullshit. Let me completely break this down for those who want to continue reading.
Firstly: If the kid you're gossiping about finds out, you're gonna find yourself in the middle of an argument, which completely shows you up, makes you look like a Snake ass hole
Secondly: You get a lot more respect if you're the guy who stays out of everything, after all, most of the time it's none of your business. If you can't find something to talk about, that's your own problem, so fix it, don't just gossip to get involved.
Most Importantly: I think you'll find, for the most part, the gossip doesn't get the girl. We all know it can be hard to talk to girls sometimes, but the last thing you wanna do is gossip to get the conversation flowing. The alpha male does not care about what is going on around him, he's better than that. If you're gossiping to a girl then you'll get put in the friend zone real fuckin quick to be honest, there's nothing smooth about it, never do it.
Person 3) The guy who stays out of it and remains neutral, and is pretty much what i have described throughout this. If someone gossips about you, remain clam and ALPHA, confront them, but don't be pissed off, just make them look like an ass hole (y)
Final Overview
- Don't get involved
- if someone tries to get you involved flip it and make them look silly, but don't have a go at them
- don't ever talk about it unless asked, in which case stay neutral and, like i said, joke about how lame gossiping is
- if you're forced to make an opinion be completely unbiased
for example i was asked to comment on a guy getting really mad at another guy for kissing his girlfriend
so i just said; well some people might think he's over reacting, and that's fair enough. But you know, no one can really know what's going on with the guy, so i think no one should judge the situation to harshly, cause we don't really know much about it. Just let it sort itself out i guess..
NB: as soon as i let this gem out, everyone just nodded and agreed, no more gossiping.
Anyway i hope you guys can relate to this, and avoid doing it. Watch what you say!
AND NEVER GET MAD AT ANYBODY!
