In the morning, if you haven't eaten anything in about 6 hours then your body is going to dip into your muscles first and then your fat (I forget the exact sequencing when you're calorie deprived). Consensus is to eat a small breakfast, wait an hour, then workout. Also Casien (I just butchered that, sorry) protein is ingested slower than whey, meaning there will be less catabolic (muscles brokendown) action when you workout in the morning.
At night, you have stores of calories to burn. Consequently you have to get through these calories before you're burning fat, but that's nil since we're talking about anabolic (muscle building action). You can also ingest protein right after (when you muscles are prime for protein synthesis) and since muscle is built while you sleep then you'll have plenty of material already ready.
TL;DR: Working out in the morning on an empty stomach = bad. If you have to, at least eat something. At night = fine if not preferable for a night owl. I myself prefer daytime since when I'm done I can go home and grub at dinner.

well reading that i think backs up my claim, correct? your saying working out at night.. maybe having protein shake,,and make sure you have a decent dinner.. and you will benefit in muscle gain. listen guys.. the ones who dont believe me.. i may not have paper evidence and scientific reports stating fact but i have my own body.. i have worked out at night and look at the result. but i guess the key factor is just goddamn WORKOUT!!!

its really frustrating because im pretty skinny, like my arms and legs are kinda bony but i have this layer of fat over my pecs and abs so like i dont know whether i have to lose weight or just focus on making my abs/pecs huge.

dont put pics on myspace or facebook with your shirt off, its a dlv (atleast when your taking the picture yourself, if someone else is taking it while your doing something cool with your shirt off, it is a dhv)

Heh, I used to have abs during wrestling season. How i miss them... Gonna do more to get em back tho.
My tips are to sprint a lot and do some ab workouts, as well as lifting everywhere else. Abs are really just bf%, so cut that down and do crunches/leglifts.
I'm a testament to it being possible to get abs while eating like a pig, but you also gotta exercise like it's your job if you do that (unless you got killer genes).
One of the reasons I'm looking forward to the summer is so i can take my shirt off; I love showing off for the ladies. Plus gonna be a lifeguard so all day baby.
