Ex/Good Friend Reattraction

Well I'm starting to read The Game, and in it he displays a poem which includes
"There is the 'justfriends' one who you've
Known for so long, who respects you
So much that you can't do what you want.
And she no longer bothers to put on her
False personality and flirt because she thinks
You like her for who she is when what you
Liked about her was her flirtatiousness."

It inspired me to ask here more about someone in this type of situation. My ex and I are really close friends, but I can't get it to the next level. She clearly is interested, but she wont admit it. I assume, and she might have said this, because she doesn't want to get hurt or some bullshit. I don't really know. What should I do? How should I act towards her? I'd like to be a little more hard to get, but I'm not entirely sure when/how to... I'm really interested in her, and I'm stuck because I can usually get a girl I set out for.

dunno for ex but when one my really good friend started to send me signals that she might be interested i started playing her game and to see where that leads, it was endless so once I had a talk with her about how I think male/female friendship doesn't exist I saw from her reaction that she wasn't interested, also she stopped whit the mixed signals but we continued to have an awesome friendship

Well frankly I've talked to her about it before, it just ends up with gay shit like, she doesn't know what she wants or whatever. It's not easy for me to just forget about her to be honest...

Edit: Nevermind now, I decided to just stop talking to her. She was limiting my time with other girls.
