I've read thread after thread here; a lot of them offer good advice on talking to random girls, or just maintaining relationships while not in person, but what about for girls you haven't spoken to in months?
Let me elaborate: the girl I'm aiming for in particular I haven't spoken to since early September. We met during summer school, in August, and we really only got to talk when walking to and from the building. We did hit it off pretty well though, so the good thing is that she friended me first. The problem really has more to do with how I talked to her over Facebook. I feel it wasn't interesting enough to warrant responses, I guess you could put it that way. See for yourself:
Me: Hey Britney, did we have to do that whole Regents packet for homework?
Her: nope we just had to do up until #15
im doing it rn lmao
Me: Thanks, and likewise, I always do it last minute.
Review: I actually needed an answer for that question, and she was the only one from the summer school I had friended that was on. Still, I figured it would just escalate naturally, but back then, I guess you could say I expected things to be handed to me on a silver platter. Looking back on it, I think if I’d said something a bit more response inducing, like “Lol no wonder we’re in summer school, I don’t remember my homework, and you do it last minute ”, I might’ve been able to have a good conversation. I think I ended it on a note that was too simple, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, like a week or so later, I just chatted her up casually. I was a lot more anxiety prone back then and actually had to think about doing it (it was a big step in doing it though, that’s for sure), but that’s not really the focus here.
Me: You usually up this late?
Her: yupp haha
Me: Then again, you did say you were always tired in the morning. Are you at Joan’s or something?
Her: mhm, and no I’m just watching anime
Me: Oh. You’re into anime?
Her: yeah, I love it!
Me: I'm sort of a fan too. Nothing really too dedicated, but I was into Bleach, Durarara, and some other stuff for a while. My brother got me into most of it.
Her: thats cool, i just watch it when i get bored, its basically the only thing i do watch
Me: Yeah, stuff on TV's gotten pretty stale, most of it's not really entertaining anymore. Anytime I do watch it's usually when I'm eating or I'm tired after school.
Her: yeah i know what you mean, television sucks now
Me: And everything good's season is over, I noticed. I'm more into The Walking Dead, or Being Human. If those are on, I'll run to the TV.
Review: No response after that. I can pinpoint what I think are the problems here purely on instinct: A few boring questions, and I think I showed too much, I don’t know, “investment”, for lack of better term. Otherwise, I don’t really see any other reason for her going ghost all of a sudden.
Me: Hey Britney
Her: hey obelish (for the sake of this thread, my name is Obelish)
Me: What's up?
Her: attempting to clean my room, you?
Me: Listening to music, always feels great. And oh, don't mean to hinder you or anything, if you don't have time while cleaning, I mean.
Her: nahh haha its fine, im almost done anyway
Me: Alright. Well anyway, I guess you're like me, glad that summer school's over?
Her: yeah im really glad its over, it was such a waste of summer
Me: I thought so too at first, but I figured, I'd probably be depriving myself of sleep and waking up at 3 if I didn't have something to do, so I guess it gave me that.
Review: Yet again, she’s vanished, which I think is odd after she seemed to lighthearted in her other messages. Now, I’m gonna leave out the other conversations because they all ended the same way: with a disappearing act. I will say that both of them were mad short and went something like ‘Me -> Her -> Me -> End’. Part of me thinks it was just a computer problem, I figure that’s just something I should consider given how abruptly it ended, but my assumption is more like she was bored.
I think I’ve gotten a lot better at keeping conversations worthwhile since then, but I still need to find a way to get me back into her sights. She likes my status every once in a while (today actually), and we had a small conversation on a mutual friend’s wall, so I assume some interest is still there. So I was thinking I could chat her again with something like “I was just thinking about how great it is to not have math class on my day off lmao”. You think that’s a good start? Or maybe I should like a few of her pictures or statuses first; I’m at a bit of a standstill.
