I struggle with getting out of my head, & I'm currently teaching myself new ways I can do this. (being in state)
This is just a list of things that help get there, feel free to add.
- make jokes with friends(hard when they're in their head too) - clap (from Julian) - smile

State is your state of mind yes ? So your asking how to get to a better state of mind. Well to answer it as short as possible a default good state is relaxation, gratitude, appreciation etc. You could be in a relaxed state and perhaps experience something positive and that would be the equivalent to the "nimbus" community guys talk about, the "good energy". Well you can create that right now, at any moment. You just need to focus and pay attention for a while. Think of it like this. When you began learning "good and bad", good feelings, bad feelings. Right and wrong etc. "you" moved out of your head and whoever had the good intentions of keeping you from the "bad" example your parents, teachers, society etc. Moved in. Its how we grow and learn when young. We give away our power to them because they have good intentions, so "you" move out your head. It would require a bit of discipline for you to move back into your head. Where you take responsibility of how you think, therefore create (your reality etc.). For example in the beginning self affirmation for me was a waste of my time because my mind was a noise and I couldn't even focus on the affirmation, I couldn't focus on what I wanted, couldn't feel it and couldn't create it. Meditation helped me quiet up a bit and the focus learned from the activity helped me to focus on what I wanted and with that focus it made self affirmation really real. Words such as capable, I am enough, are felt at an emotional level and not logical. Look at it like this, if your next thought could manifest instantly what would you want it to be ? Ultimately that's what you want. If your next thought could "get you into state" what would you want it to be. Constantly create, constantly focus. Its a practice.

You want to create a world where your actions make you happy. You don't want to be working hard and hard and hard waiting for success. You can get into state making your bed, listening to music, doing hard ass work, talking to friends. Your actions must satisfy you don't over look the statement its that simple.
More importantly it would be better for you look for what you want. Best sources are in books and in yourself. You maybe take in less than 10% of what you read so read on what you want often. Read up on getting out of your head and read a lot of it and never stop until you find it. You may think you have the answer but if your not living proof of it you don't have the answer so even when you think its enough its not. Sweet

I agree for the most part, and I do try to focus. I think my issue comes in when im actually in a social setting, I tend to start thinking too much about the situation and then my social capabilities plumet.
It's better to do and find out what will help get me out of my head than to read about it. I just wanted to get more ideas on what I could try- actions or thoughts that could help get me in a better state.
What I will start to do though is meditate and make sure i'm being appreciative; it makes you see that the situation could be much worse. And helps to make us non-relaint on material shit.

Try listening to music. Preferably upbeat from your favorite artists.what I do to get in state is get a good upbeat song that makes me feel good and I get it in my head. It clears my mind and stops me from overthinking. Try surrounding yourself with people you know you're gonna have a good conversation with. You and your friends' high energy will bounce off each other getting you in to a good outgoing state.

Best way to get into state? By approaching continuously and without any fucks. The more you approach, the more momentum you build thus you won't fall into the mind set of "I can't approach, my state is to low".
Be with people who will push you to approach.
