I check in once and a while, and I think I'm finally ready to say good bye.
We tell ourselves we want to be better with women, to be better looking, to get better grades, or make more money.
Whatever it is, what we're all really searching for is control. We spend so much time worrying about what other people think, that we never quite take the time to look in for the answers instead of always looking out.
Having been involved with this community for so long, I've seen it all: the thrill of actually finding this place, reading posts for the first time, and seeing the wealth of knowledge we've all accumulated over the years, to give us that extra edge over the "competition". At least, that's how we see it.
The competition out there isn't the girls, or even the other guys out there, but ourselves. There is no magic bullet that will solve all of our problems for us, we can't rely on others to hold our hands and make the decisions for us, we need to be the ones ourselves who take charge over our own destinies.
Again having been involved for so long, I've had the experiences which allow me to look back and decode it all, find what really mattered, and what still matters today.
At a base, the reason you have difficulty talking to girls comes down to you. "Society made me this way, I was sheltered, my parents were like this..."
You're most likely between 15 and 18, relax.
I'm 22, about 23. Here's what matters when you're in high school:
1. Graduating from High School
2. Having as much fun as possible
Gee OHM, thanks for that, it's real helpful...
But that's the point, we can't really give you all of the answers. We can give you our suggestions, how we would react, because what works for us might not work for you. Because until you realize that there is more to life than just learning how to say hi to a girl you'll never learn how to grab control of your own destiny and learn to bend it to your will.
Luck is a word used by the lazy to describe the outcome of situations they're to weak to create on their own.
You want to be good with women? Learn how to talk to girls? Walk up to one and say hi. Start talking to them like you would with your friend, because like you, they are also human, and like you, they are also self-conscious, and like you, they would just like to talk to someone like a friend would. We all want to belong, to be with someone and to connect, it's our nature, and by segregating the "haves and the have-nots", the "pretty" from the "ugly", idolizing some and looking down on others, we're all just perpetuating the issue that we can't get what we want because we're just "not good" at it.
Do you look like a dweeb? Then you're probably a dweeb. Want to be a man? Then act like one. Dress yourself, cut your hair, and take a shower. You will never be able to truly respect others until you can learn to respect yourselves. You only deserve everything life has to offer if you're willing to reach out and grab it, and it's really that simple.
You have always been in control, and you always will be. Stop setting limits on yourself and get out there.
I promise you one hell of a ride.
Take care,
- OHM
