Wrestlers help out here:
Ok so my coach decided to have me go 160 in districts. Problem is my weight the past couple of days has been 171 before practice and 169 after. I just can't seem to get any lower and I'm afraid to cut out anything else for fear I won't be able to lift at the level I am. Our 171 is like 166 right now, should he just move down?
The problem with that is at 160s I'm almost sure to qualify for regionals, at 171 you've got 2 state qualifiers.
Any advice to drop the last 9 pounds? I have until the 7th.

Nothing, I'm naturally 171. I walk into practice after lunch and weight 171 on the dot. Update though, today after practice I was 167.3 and I didn't even really practice (match tomorrow) so hopefully it won't be much further.

Leg tap during class is the only advice I can offer. I've known some guys to lose a pound or two in a day just from that.

Yeah your gonna get weaker, but after season youll be back to normal. Here is a diet I heard of, i dont know how effective it is in wrestling...and its probably too much of a risk to try now, but if your up for it: therawfoodsite.com/mastercleanse.htm

What time is your weigh in? I would imagine you could cut a pound by waiting to have lunch after.

Weigh-ins will be in the morning, and I never eat before tourny weigh-ins anyway. I've started subbing carbs at dinner for more vegetables so that should keep me from adding on anymore weight, here's to hopping my energy level doesn't drop that much.

^^This is how you screw yourself up. I highly don't recommend having to jog and only drink 2 glasses of water a day.
Drink your daily amount (10-11 cups), just not all at once. But yeah, do jog. a lot. =]
stay away from carbohydrates, go atkin's for a couple of weeks

Haha my coach told me a story about when he had to cut 30 lbs in 2 days. And he worked out for like 12 hours each day...drank like a few drops of water. My dad used to weigh 240 in football season, then cut to 170 for wrestling.

That's fucking insane, of course that was before weight certs and everything but fuck! I know he wasn't 170 until districts though, no way he got that low any sooner. Oh yea Grape, districts is Feb. 7th so Atkins won't do anything. I don't think you understand how wrestling works, the goal is not to cut ACTUAL weight, but more artificial weight and hopefully some fat in the process. This is mostly done in the form of water weight. At 160 for instance in JV, I'd kill because I'm so strong compared to everyone else because of my size, in varsity though it'll just level the playing field. Yea Alek, I might have to do that, but I'll save it until next Wed. because there's no way I could make it through sets of 3 like that. Here's to districts and a medal. Thanks for all your help guys. Nine Nope, my dad cut to that in the start of the season. My dad was a beast, he made it on the olympic team in 80' but they boycotted due to the war =\

Howd it go? Its crazy how much people drop, I only have to drop 2-3 pounds before every tournament but some on my team drop 7-10 pounds each time and same for other teams. We have sectionals/districts/states and our sectionals are on February 21st.
