Muay Thai is an ancient martial art from Thailand. It is traditionaly used in competitions, but is highly useful in real life fighting circumstances. Training for it burns on average 1000 calories an hour. Its intense try it out

I'm already a Black belt in Tae Kwon Do so I might actually learn this or BJJ to round out my skills

my friend got knocked out cold 3 times while sparring/competing. muay thai is the real deal, in thailand it's only 3 rounds, but they don't have padding. i'm more for boxing, but i'm looking to do muay thai probably in college.

no offence RedDog, but Tae Kwon Do is the most useless martial art. I used to do it, so i should know. It was intended to be used to get japenese soldiers off horses. Thats why the kicks are so high, and the stance is so static. But the guard is shit in a real fight, and the punches suck major ass. It helps with kicks tho. Theirs a hilarious video of the world champion of Tae Kwon Do fighting the World Champion of Muay Thai. Good shit. Guess who wins.

Heh yeah, I'm awesome with my feet in a fight but I'd get wrecked in a fistfight. I'll look up that video on youtube, if it's there.
Edit:Wow, he got owned lol Now I just have to decide wether to take like Judo or BJJ or Muay Thai.

well BJJ is great if you want to fight people bigger than u, but ur a big dude, so i would recomend boxing. Muay thai is great if u want to get into shape tho. I went from being 160 (im about 5'11) to 150 in two weeks.

Where do you do it? Did you join an a class, or do you do it through a program at a gym? Or do you just do it on your own?

Dante is right man, Tae Kwon Do sucks major ass and the only good thing for it is the kicks. I can fuck people up when they want to fight me, cuz they cant even get near me cuz i keep kicking them =P
Yo dante, where do you do Muay Thai? I´ll check the place out. I wanted to get into something again, being at home is wrecking me.

I was just talking to Andre (SenorBubbz) about how I need to get in shape, and he recommended this, my only real question is whether or not you have to at least be in semi decent shape to start.

Hey guys! I do muay thai, it's mad man. It's SICK! I just had my second fight awhile ago, 2-0 atm ! You guys will fucking love it. Nothing makes your balls feel bigger then getting hit in the face and shrugging it off. Find a place that'll beat the shit out of you though, none of those tampon fancy gyms produce good fighters. You'll get hit and your face will probably change a little, mine kindda has haha. But fuck hey, my games as solid as ever. It'll get you in touch with your inner man. You don't need to be in awesome shape to start. If you go to a ratty gym, show heart, take the punches, they'll train you hard. You'll get in awesome shape. I did BJJ for awhile, not as manly I don't think. It takes no heart to roll around, no one's REALLY going to get hurt. Your not REALLY going to break your nose. It doesn't REALLY actually hurt. Yeah I'll cop shit for saying that, but bottom line is, you get bigger balls from taking punches then from submissions. It's good for fighting though. So yeah, do muay thai. You'll become more manly. Hahahaha. And fit. Show heart, work hard, you'll get fights, train hard, you'll win fights. I have to go training now, catch. DO MUAY THAI! JOIN MY CULT! Hahaha. Oh and TKD isn't completely useless. I sparred the former number 1 TKD under 16's champion, he was fucking good. Quick, great footwork, sneaky fucker. Beat my ass.

I do a bit of CLF Kung fu over all its a bit weak but a lot of the techniques cause opponents major pain like join locks and breaks and back fist strikes to the back of the head. You can combo hits like crazy. Bruce lee him self said it is the best style for taking out multiple attackers, I'm going to quit when I go off to college maybe sooner because I feel I have gotten what I can out of it since the higher levels are mainly weapon forms thats another thing the fucking forums they help with stance training but thats about it for the most part. I really would like to learn some hard core kyokushin karate because its the real deal and MAS OYAMA the founder was a true bad ass look him up. I really like the idea of JKD and the philosophy behind it.
